Last Friday Milk Cosmetics launched their new mascara and it has been a buzz worthy topic ever since. Everything from the release date (4/20) to the product name “Kush Mascara” has been making waves. Underneath all the hype, what is this product really about? Well, I was lucky enough to receive a complimentary tube of mascara and here are my thoughts.
Milk Makeup is a US brand makeup company that is vegan and cruelty free. This company wants to use natural ingredients to allow makeup to be fresh and clean. What we put on our skin is important because it is absorbed and Milk Makeup wants to use high-quality products that won’t cause harm. They are known for their phenomenal highlighter sticks, which I absolutely love.
Yes, you read that correctly. One of the active ingredients in this new mascara is canabis oil. It should be noted though that when infused in makeup, you won’t be having the side effects that you would if you enjoy other forms of canabis oil (lol). This oil, is actually very nourishing and when used in mascara it helps achieve the creamy texture in lieu of harmful ingredients.
The company spared no expenses when it came to the sleek design of this product. The tubing is almost like a brushed nickel bottle. It feels a little heavy and rich all at once.
The product comes with a thick brush, to help lift lashes and have the mascara adhere to every last one. I found the brush to be a little to thick and more prickly than what I’m used to, but it really did hit every lash. Upon application, you can really tell that you’ve applied some mascara to your lashes. The bold black color really allows lashes to standout. However, I can’t say my lashes looked any fuller than normal. In fact, I still preferred lining my lashes with Roller Lash than applying this mascara over it.
Kush Mascara did last all day, without flaking. The mascara never felt heavy or itchy, and no it doesn’t smell weird either.
Overall, this is a decent mascara. If you’re more interested in clean, paraben-free ingredients then this would be a great option. However, if you prefer volume and length than there are other products that may not be as chemical-free out there that you would prefer. I enjoyed using this since I knew it was good for my skin, so I will make the purchase in the future.
Have you tried this new mascara? What are your thoughts??
