It’s All About Accessories: Kinsley Armelle

If you have noticed yet, drusy jewelry is all the rage. From Kendra Scott necklaces to Etsy shops, this is the hottest style. Which it should be in my opinion. It mixes the right amount of elegance with country chic to create a gorgeous rustic piece of jewelry.

Well, I recently discovered the company: Kinsley Armelle. Let me just start by saying, I’m hooked. The combination of stones, beads and metallic tones is completely on point. Plus, there are endless options to choose from and all at a reasonable price point. What really sold me on this company though is the fact that these bracelets ACTUALLY fit my wrist. Often times I cannot find a bracelet to fit my small wrists, but many styles are customizable so I have found several to work.

Stay tuned because I cannot wait to show off all of the amazing pieces available. I have purchased so many of my own, it’s actually a problem at this point.

Go check it out, you will not be disappointed. I’m sharing a code below where you can receive 15% off- it doesn’t get much better than that. 🙂 Simply click here or enter SHINES15 at checkout.

If you have any questions let me know! I’ve already ordered another package, this time with pops of colors. Can’t wait to share it with you all!!

Milk Cosmetics Mascara

Last Friday Milk Cosmetics launched their new mascara and it has been a buzz worthy topic ever since. Everything from the release date (4/20) to the product name “Kush Mascara” has been making waves. Underneath all the hype, what is this product really about? Well, I was lucky enough to receive a complimentary tube of mascara and here are my thoughts.

Milk Cosmetics:

Milk Makeup is a US brand makeup company that is vegan and cruelty free. This company wants to use natural ingredients to allow makeup to be fresh and clean. What we put on our skin is important because it is absorbed and Milk Makeup wants to use high-quality products that won’t cause harm. They are known for their phenomenal highlighter sticks, which I absolutely love.

Kush Mascara

Yes, you read that correctly. One of the active ingredients in this new mascara is canabis oil. It should be noted though that when infused in makeup, you won’t be having the side effects that you would if you enjoy other forms of canabis oil (lol). This oil, is actually very nourishing and when used in mascara it helps achieve the creamy texture in lieu of harmful ingredients.

The company spared no expenses when it came to the sleek design of this product. The tubing is almost like a brushed nickel bottle. It feels a little heavy and rich all at once.

The product comes with a thick brush, to help lift lashes and have the mascara adhere to every last one. I found the brush to be a little to thick and more prickly than what I’m used to, but it really did hit every lash. Upon application, you can really tell that you’ve applied some mascara to your lashes. The bold black color really allows lashes to standout. However, I can’t say my lashes looked any fuller than normal. In fact, I still preferred lining my lashes with Roller Lash than applying this mascara over it.

Kush Mascara did last all day, without flaking. The mascara never felt heavy or itchy, and no it doesn’t smell weird either.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, this is a decent mascara. If you’re more interested in clean, paraben-free ingredients then this would be a great option. However, if you prefer volume and length than there are other products that may not be as chemical-free out there that you would prefer. I enjoyed using this since I knew it was good for my skin, so I will make the purchase in the future.

Have you tried this new mascara? What are your thoughts??

Magnetic Eyelashes

Lashes are everything in my world. Like I’ve told you before, I will not leave the house without mascara and carry a tube with me always. So, by now I’m sure you’ve heard of magnetic lashes and if you haven’t, stick with me a little longer.

Magnetic lashes are false eyelashes that use the smallest magnets instead of eyelash glue. Since they use magnets you’re able to reuse them over time if taken care of properly. I’ve been reading on these beauties for quite a while and finally clicked purchase because I just had to know if they were with it.

One Two Cosmetics

I purchased my lashes from One Two Cosmetics. After winning the Allure’s Innovative Product in 2016 and being featured in several magazines and websites I decided to purchase them. This brand uses synthetics locally manufactured in California and the lashes underwent testing from Princeton’s Consumer Research to ensure safety of use.

I ordered the full coverage original lash. It’s described as elegant and understated on the website, to give the appearance of longer and fuller lashes. The packaging itself is gorgeous.

Once I opened the box, I was mot disappointed. They look beautiful and I couldn’t wait to put them on. They were so long and had a full look (kind of like my lashes after I put on 162 layers of mascara).

Maybe it was he excitement, but it did take me a few attempts to correctly apply these beauties. The directions were simple and easy to follow for both methods of application. (You can choose: apply them by hand or use the applicator tool).

When applying by hand, I just had to figure out my hand placement to ensure the lashes were in the correct place. Once I figured out where/how to focus on the outer corner things were SO easy. After a few practices, I can now apply them in seconds.

I personally didn’t enjoy using the applicator. You magnetize the lashes onto the applicator then place them on your eyes. It reminded me of using a lash curler in a sense. I just had better luck by hand.

Wearing My Lashes

After the first 5 minutes, I forgot I even had them on. They felt so light on your lashes. This is a huge perk because I find most fake lashes annoying and the glue bothers my skin.

The length was out of this world. If you love longer lashes, you will not be disappointed.

Seriously, the easiest thing you’ll ever do. You simply pinch the outer corner with your thumb and index finger, give it a sliding motion (almost like you’re going to snap) and off they come. THATS IT. The site recommends cleaning with their product and storing away safely before the next use.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, I’m hooked. These lashes are so easy, reusable, and won’t cause damage to your natural lashes or skin. The actual lashes I purchased are great for an everyday look, but if going to a special event I would purchased the bolder lashes so they stand out more. (Which I plan on doing). I would also recommend purchasing the cleaner. I initially didn’t (because I’m stubborn) but I’m now waiting on delivery because I want to take care of these the best way possible. It was crazy how much makeup gets on them while wearing them.

If you’re interested in finding out more, click here. They have several lash styles to choose from. The site often runs promotions where you can receive a discount. I uses a 20% off code and at checkout was offered special pricing if purchasing more than one pair. I didn’t use that offer and actually regret it now.

Have you tried them yet?!? I’d love to hear your thoughts/results. I’m officially hooked and can’t wait to order more.

Spring Style

It FINALLY feels like Spring here in Missouri, can I seriously get an amen?!? I have been waiting weeks to start wearing springtime clothing because it’s one of my favorite seasons. Still cool enough to layer, but brighter colors and lighter fabrics.

I have a slight obsession with Von Maur, mainly because it’s minutes from my house. Another reason being that every time I go there I manage to snag a cute outfit or statement piece. Today is no different, both pieces came from there.

Angies Striped Top

This striped and floral top is from the brand, Angie. It’s a breathable material with a cute wrap style in the front. A small clasp holds the two together in the front to create the deep v. The shirt is flowy and loose with slightly belled sleeves. I’m obsessed with how the floral pattern from the top repeats on the wrists. Such a comfy and cute shirt that can be dressed up with slacks or pieces beautifully with denim for a great daytime or evening look. It’s on sale right now for $23, such a steal. Click here for more details.

Vervet Distressed Denim

Distressed denim is all the rage and I personally love it. This pair of jeans feels like butter on my skin. Stiff jeans are my least favorite thing, and these jeans bend and move with me. They feel so soft and you’re able to move around comfortably. These jeans are under $60, which is a bargain for comfy jeans. Click here for more details.

Color Street Nail Polish

Let’s be honest, as a working mom of 2 little ones I really don’t have the time to go to the nail salon every week.  Mix that with the fact that even though I LOVE shellac nail polish, they absolutely ruin my nails. So, I am always on the hunt to find nail polish I can use at home that can give me salon wearability and shine.  Today I am talking all about the brand, Color Street.

Color Street: Color Street was founded by a man named, Fa Park. He set out on a mission to find a way to make painting nails easier for women ((and men)).  After years of designing and trying different adhesive papers, Color Street hit the market in Fall 2017.

What Is It?: Similar to Jamberry, this product is actually an adhesive that goes directly onto your nail.  The biggest difference between Color Street and similar products out there, is they actually use REAL NAIL POLISH for their products.  So, when you open up a package of nail strips, they are 90% dry and will set once on your nails. When I say “set” I pretty much mean they will instantly dry. because you can go about your day as soon as you are finished.

What You Get: When you order from Color Street, you have a variety of basic colors, glitters, or designs to choose from.  Once the polish arrives at your doorstep and you open it up, you receive everything you need.  In each color package you receive 2 strips of various nail sizes to choose from, a miniature nail file, and an alcohol wipe. Each package of nail color is vacuum sealed so the product can stay fresh, literally when you cut it open you can smell nail polish.

How It Works:

  • I recommend filing and buffing your nails before you begin to apply the product, so the adhesive can bind to your nail with a stronger hold.
  • Next, you will use the provided alcohol wipe and cleanse each nail.
  • Open the nail color strips.  Choose the correct nail strip, size-wise, for each nail.  It was recommended to me that you size down, because the strips can stretch a little to fit.
  •  Once you have the desired size chosen, peel off the clear plastic on top, As well as the silver tab and the backing on the backside of the nail polish.
  • Holding the strip in the middle, apply to desired nail.  Smoothing out from the bottom to the top.
  • Tear the excess off, but hold onto the remaining pieces. You can use this on your same nail on the opposite hand.
  • Once the excess is torn off, cut it down a bit so you have just a little hanging over to tuck under the nail.  Tuck the polish under your nail, then file your nail.
  • Repeat for remaining nails.
  • That’s it!

After wearing these color strips for a while here are my thoughts on them.

  • TIME SAVER!!! It literally took me 10 minutes for the whole process and my nails looked amazing.  I received so many compliments as well.  The shine lasts and looks like a salon painted your nails.
  • I also love that they use real nail polish, so the adhesive doesn’t feel “heavy” on my nails.
  • Love the various strip sizes included because you can give yourself a manicure and pedicure using just one single package.
  • It is also convenient that they come with everything you need already in the packaging.
  • Color Street is constantly running sales for buy 3 get one, so each package runs from $11-$14 which is reasonable for a manicure. SO easy to remove- just grab some nail polish remover and you are finished.  (Although the glitter polish did take a little more effort to remove).

  • Although they use real nail polish, it is not 7-free meaning there are harmful chemicals used in the actual nail polish.
  • I will be the first to admit that I am tough on my hands, but this did not last 2 weeks.  Mine needed to be taken off after 9 days because of the wear and tear.
  • Once the packages are opened, you cannot use them again later.  I stored mine in a ziplock bag inside an air-tight container and didn’t have any luck.  Meaning I used to different packages so I could have accent nails. That means my 9 day manicure actually cost me $23.
  • There is a learning curve when it comes to applying the adhesives.  After 3 rounds I am better at it, but still not great.
  • Popular shades sellout quickly, so order fast if you like one.

Final Thoughts: All in all, I am so glad I tried this product. It is an easy way to get your nails done at-home.  If you’re in the market for a new polish to try, give it a whirl.  I personally will only use it for special occasions since it can cost a bit more if I choose to use accent nail designs.  Another reason is I prefer to use nail polishes free of chemicals since we have children in the house.
